The Scientific Police of Alagoas are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of Carlos Alberto de Carvalho Fraga (38), a professor at the Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL). According to initial information, the first examination of the body did not indicate signs of physical violence, leading authorities to request additional analyses to help clarify the cause of death.
Forensic pathologist Guilherme Paiva, from the Arapiraca Forensic Medical Institute (IML), stated that biological material samples were collected and will be submitted for toxicological testing at the Forensic Laboratory. Only after these tests are completed will the Forensic Police be able to issue the definitive autopsy report.
Carlos Alberto, who coordinated the Medicine course at UFAL’s Arapiraca campus, was found deceased on February 9, 2026, inside his home in Residencial Pedro Tertuliano, in the Massaranduba neighborhood.
At the scene, a team from the Agreste Institute of Criminalistics carried out the technical investigation, collecting multiple traces that will be analyzed in the forensic laboratories of the Institute of Criminalistics in Maceió. According to expert Isadora Davi, all procedures strictly followed chain-of-custody protocols to preserve the integrity of the evidence.
In addition to biological and chemical traces, fingerprints were also collected with the aid of the ForenScope CSI Pro 3, a technology recently incorporated into forensic work in Alagoas.
