On January 15–16, fifteen technicians from a Forensic Biology and Genetics unit participated in an intensive hands-on training program on the t-ZOOM+ DNA system, recently acquired by the laboratory.
Developed by ForenScope and distributed by Rivolier SAS, t-ZOOM+ DNA is an advanced visualization platform designed to support high-sensitivity, contactless examination of biological traces and micro-level findings. Its high-precision magnification enables detailed observation of very small areas, while minimizing the need to touch or alter the substrate during examination.
During the training, the system was connected via HDMI to a large monitor, allowing participants to review imaging and software capabilities in a clear, workflow-oriented format. Live demonstrations using reference samples helped reinforce key operational steps, and the Smart Buttons and Auto Smart Search functions drew strong interest for their ability to simplify selection of effective imaging settings.
In the practical segment, specialists worked directly with samples they had prepared and brought themselves, applying the system to their own workflows. One of the most discussed demonstrations was the visualization of epithelial tissue samples under oblique illumination, where shadowing and contrast behavior became especially informative for interpretation.
Thanks to its compact, ergonomic design and integration with existing optical tools, t-ZOOM+ DNA supports both laboratory and field deployment—helping reveal areas of interest that may be invisible to the naked eye. This capability can support more informed sampling decisions and help optimize downstream analysis.
Participants described the training as both effective and highly practical, and acknowledged the quality of technical guidance and support provided throughout the program.
