The Paraná Civil Police, operating in the Brazilian state of Paraná, has integrated ForenScope’s 8K Android Latent Fingerprint Detection Tablet into its operational procedures to examine latent fingerprints at crime scenes more quickly and in greater detail.
ForenScope systems support the detection and digital imaging of fingerprints found on different surfaces that may remain invisible under standard illumination, helping prepare them for forensic examination and evaluation.
Detecting Invisible Traces with Multispectral Technology
The visibility of latent fingerprints can vary depending on the colour, texture and reflectivity of the examined surface, as well as the surrounding environmental conditions.
ForenScope 8K Android uses multiple illumination options and optical filters, enabling forensic specialists to conduct more comprehensive examinations of traces found on challenging surfaces.
Its high-resolution imaging capabilities allow distinctive fingerprint details to be digitally recorded. This makes it possible to obtain high-quality images suitable for subsequent comparison and evaluation processes.
Preserving Evidence Through Contactless Examination
The contactless imaging approach of ForenScope 8K Android supports the examination of delicate traces without exposing them to physical intervention.
This capability provides a significant advantage, particularly when examining glossy or reflective surfaces and materials that could be damaged during conventional fingerprint development procedures.
A Faster Digital Workflow for Fingerprint Examination
Fingerprint specialist Danilo Lemos Pereira stated that the new technologies represent a significant advancement over previous systems and improve examinations conducted using specialised chemical powders developed for different types of surfaces.
According to Pereira, fingerprints can now be visualised more quickly, while the resulting digital images can be transferred directly to the institution’s system.
This workflow accelerates the comparison of detected fingerprints with existing records while also helping preserve the evidence more effectively.
With its portable design, ForenScope 8K Android brings advanced forensic imaging capabilities directly to crime scenes. Specialists can examine suspicious surfaces in the field, record detected traces in high resolution and proceed to the digital analysis stage more quickly.
Faster and More Accurate Investigations
Paraná Secretary of Public Security Hudson Leôncio Teixeira stated that technological modernisation has made a significant contribution to solving crimes across the state.
Teixeira emphasised that the new resources provide greater speed and accuracy in resolving cases while supporting the Government of Paraná’s commitment to modernising its public security forces.
The Paraná Civil Police’s adoption of ForenScope technology once again demonstrates the importance of portable, high-resolution and multispectral imaging systems in modern crime scene investigation.
